Default U connect

I have a 09 jeep rubicon with factory nav/sirius radio but has the u connect button on it. i was wondering what i need to add that option. i went to the dealer and they tried to sell me a whole new radio because they said i could not add to the radio. which i know is bs. My radio model is a RER and has the built in hard drive as well.

thanks

You would need the uconnect module, wiring harness, and Mic kit. Think it's about $250 total.

If he has an "RER" like he says, then he does not need the separate Uconnect module, and he would be wasting his money if he purchased that item, because it is not compatible with the RER radio.
The RER has a built in Uconnect module.

Here's what you need for the RER radio.
1. You need to connect an external Microphone kit. The easiest way to find out is if you pull the radio out and look at the back connectors. There is a smaller 10 pin connector, in between 2 larger connectors on the back of the RER radio. This is the connector to where the microphone normally connects on the RER radio.

Here's a link to what you're looking for...there may be others out there: (remove the space)

2. You need to enable Uconnect VR on the RER radio. Here's how you do it.
a) Press and hold the MENU + Seek up + Seek down buttons. This will enter you into a hidden Engineering Menu
b) Then, press the soft arrow button on the screen until you are at the last menu page.
c) Then, press the menu item "Enable JK Voice Recognition".

You could jump directly to step 2, however without a microphone kit installed, no one be able to hear you on the other side of a phone call.

My bad, you are correct. 730 has the uconnect built in. 430 does not.
