Heard this is possible? tried searching but couldn't find it. Just got an iphone 5 hoping its compatible for this feature

 

Apple doesn't play well(at all) with the text message features of uconnect. MAP protocol is not supported by Apple

 

Uconnect isn't the only BT carkit that Apple doesn't play well with. There are many others.

 

LOL - I'm trying to figure out how to stop the system from alerting me every single time I get a text message, personally!

Android device here...

 

press and release the Uconnect phone button and say "set up, incoming sms announcement", you'll be told that it's on and asked if you want it off. Say "yes"

What year does this text feature work on. I have a 2012.

 

Mine's a 2014.

 

It became a supported feature on the mid year 2012 vehicles? Do you know what your build date is? Can you press and hold the Uconnect phone button for about 7 seconds till you hear the "please attach.....", if your vehicle is a mid year build, then there will be a Uconnect SW version displayed on the radio screen,, what is it?
If you don't see the SW version or you know that it's an early build, then there is a SW update available for it to become current.
The phone also has to support MAP (Message Access Profile) in order for SMS texting via BT to work.
