Default Warn Solenoid Replacement M8000

Attachment 116887

I am in the (long) process of rebuilding my winch. I just ordered replacement solenoids from DB Electric off of Amazon.com. I replaced them last night and am awaiting my replacement motor to complete the entire rebuild, however, I had a question regarding the solenoids. When I (carefully) removed the OEM solenoids I replaced them with the new ones, but soon noticed that the new solenoids had an "I" and a "S" on one side of the solenoid. Does anyone know what these letters stand for, as they did not appear on the OEM Warn solenoids? Also, is there a method to replacing the solenoids, or is it o.k. that I basically indiscriminately put it back together, paying careful attention to the wiring, but not which direction the new solenoids faced.

Hope that makes sense and thanks for all your feedback, as usual.

btw, the original motor is shot, so I cannot hook it all up and try it out yet.

Some pics might be helpful. But, generally the switch part of the relay doesn't relay care which terminal you use ( big posts ). And the coil itself ( small terminals ) doesn't care either. But, if there is field protection on the coil, then it matters.

Agreed. With the additional comment that I don't think those ones have a protection circuit built in, so polarity shouldn't matter in this case.

Thanks all. Btw, Warn sent me a wiring diagram and it looks like there is a ground already built into the remote socket. Problem solved...in other words, it doesn't matter which way the solenoids face.

Thanks to all!
