Default Selling factory stereo head unit, need anti-theft code?

I replaced the factory 430N head unit in my 2013 JKUR a few years ago and now I'm selling the factory unit and speakers. Lady trying to buy it says I have to call or go to a dealer, give them my VIN, registration and radio serial number for her to be able to install/use it. Is this so? Never heard of it, trying to see if that's legit. Thanks!

Yes, that's the process. Call the parts department- from my experience.
