What year RER?
Hey guys, I have a 2007 JK 4 door with an RER unit that was not from the factory that was added to it before I purchased the Jeep used a couple of years ago. The unit works fine, and has a Lockpic installed. I am wanting to add the RER MyGig Ipod integration kit so I can control my Iphone through the stereo, and play it while charging. I have read that the 2007-2008 RER will not work, but 2009+ RER will work. How do I know which year model unit I have. Sorry if this has been answered before, but I cannot find it if so. More info that may help identify the year:
Lockpic installed Navigation Uconnect with mic installed Software Updated to 2.403 Backup camera installed I had what appeared to be the exact same RER unit in my 2009 Dodge Challenger, and it came with the Ipod integration kit already installed from the factory, and worked fine when the Iphone was plugged in the center console. I believe it was the same unit, because I used the same disc to update both units' software with each update. Just want to make certain before I order the $100 cable. Thanks for any help! |
Easiest way is to get the part number off the top of it.

CHR550 LOCKPICK the reason they would say 2007-2008 wouldn't work is most likely the software version |
He will still need to make sure it is an 09 up unit or the 82211853 cable will not work. We tried this on a friends 08, plugged in the cable, did not work. His 08 unit and my 09 unit were at the same version software. Plugged the cable into my 09 and up unit, and it worked fine. It was discussed heavily on the MyGig forums that they made a change in the 09+ units to allow iPod integration to work. That is why I specifically sought out a 2009 unit when it put the RER in my 08.
Now, the CHRY550 Lockpick does it's own thing, so it will work on any year MyGig. |
Care to share what hardware change , besides the HDD change, from an 08 to 09 model. I have had a few 730's since 2007, Wrangler being the First with High Speed Bus and first with MyGig....

I was going to search some of the info on the MyGig forum, but it is down right now. They had a bunch of stuff on the Mopar iPod cable and how it works only on 09-10 RER's. something is different between the 08 and 09 units that allows it to work. We were hoping it was a firmware issue, but after updating to the same version my 09 unit had on his 08, the cable was still a no go.
