A strange thing happens every so often but not often enough to get a chance to investigate it. The radio will suddenly turn on and continue to play until I shut it off. I plan on taking it into the dealer before they loose their Jeep franchise (they got the ax) but don't have much faith they will find anything or want to pursue it since they won't be a Jeep dealer anymore. We are 100 miles from the next closest dealer. Any suggestions why this is happening? Thanks in advance for any ideas/help.

Did the radio ever get wet from roof leak's

try a can of circuit board cleaner around the on/off knob

Strange, there may be a problem in the I/O software in the radio.

Thanks for the input so far. No, my roof doesn't leak so I'm sure it isn't a water problem. Anyone else have any ideas?

I have had the same issue for the last 2 yrs. Happens every couple months or so.

ive had mine turn off and reboot every couple months

Do you have the Infinity system? Mine was turing off every once in a while, and it turned out the amp was getting a signal from somewhere to turn the radio off. Could be a similar stray signal.

Do you have a standard transmission? mine seems to cut out once in awhile when there is a power loss. If the RPM's get low it always cuts out.

Well here is what happened to mine.

As i was walking towards the JK, i pushed the unlock button on the key. The parking lights started to flash, the dome and cargo lights went on, and the radio turned on...strange thing is that the doors did not unlock. I pushed lock and the horn(alarm) started to go off while everything else was still on. I pushed unlock again and the doors finally unlocked but the radio did not turn off untill i opened the door.

Hmmmmm
