My hood spots shine a half ass beam on the ground which is absolutely useless. I would rather have some hood glare than no function

I've got PIAA 520 SMR lights on my windshield pillars. They are the driving lights.

I bought them off a member here for $75 newish.

I love them. When I got them, I bedlined them so they weren't so Chromey.

I personally would not put floods or fogs in that spot.

Ur right lighting is a tool and I AM USING IT RIGHT cuz guess what........ My lights actually light up what's in front of me.... I could give two shits what's a mile ahead of me on the trail.... I don't need spot lights.... As far as I'm concerned the "spot" lights are only used by poachers who don't know how to kill a deer the right way so they cheat.... My ram was nick-named "The Poachers Paradise" cuz of all the dumb spot lights that were absolutely useless unless I was in a wide open field

I like my spots. They are very useful at surveying large open spaces. Not horracing Bamby. And they have very mimimal hood glare on windshield mounts. I also like my driving beams. They are an excellent compliment to my high beams both in the woods and on those baron highways. The DL's are mounted within DOT specifications. So no legal worries as long as I use them properly. The OE fogs are nice too. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to shine a light on a road. But it does take a little education to do it well.

Have fun with you lights.

I hear ya there..... I dunno bout where u live but here in south jersey there's really no need for spots.... Usually not enough open space..... What I did like them for tho was when I had a tail gate I had a rear facing 130watt KC Daylighter and for the assholes that don't turn their high beams off coming at me I angled the outer KCs so they'd hit on coming traffic right in the face! Lol ppl turn their high beams off real fast when they get blasted with 8 130watt KC Daylighters! LMAO

HAPPY JEEPIN EVERYONE!

Then there is the HID 170 strykers which will give you the best of both worlds as they are adjustable from a pencil point spot beam to a nice flood, simply by turning the housing. Got a set of these mounted on my homemade window brackets, and love em.
Plus there is the added bonus of being able to change them from a white light to amber, yellow, blue, green, simply by swapping out lenses.
