XM Radio Service in 2007 Wrangler
I'm a proud owner of a 2007 Wrangler Unlimited 4-dr (excuse me...since we traded our 1999 ASTRO VAN, my wife is the proud owner). The jeep has the standard AM/FM/CD radio. I would like to expand our existing XM-Radio service to our new Jeep. Any ideas as to the best way to accomplish this task?

either get a sky fi 2 kit or something like that and us the aux input on ur head unit (or the built in fm modulator) or replace the head unit altogether. the first option beig the cheapest!

SkyFi2 = economical way to get it done.
Pioneer AVIC-Z1 head unit is the BEST possible way to get it done in my opinion. I should have my Pioneer head unit before my Jeep arrives.

Thanks for the replies
Thanks for the replies to XM-Radio questions. I checked on pricing of the Pioneer unit this is a little out of my price league. I need to investigate the other options a little more.
Do you know where the satellite radio antenna is mounted on Jeeps with the satellite radio factory option?

The Pioneer AVIC-Z1 can be had for less than the cost of DC's navigation/radio.
Sure it's expensive, I could use the money for a 3" ultimate lift in preparatioin for 35" tires. But for mods like that, I'm going to wait a little while and let everyone else mod their JK first, so I can learn by their mistakes (which I'm sure they'll post here!!!) and avoid making my own. Besides, currently there aren't enough wheels to choose from. I loved those Walker Evans wheels, but talk about being pricey!?!
I've got to mod SOMETHING . . .

SpudRacer, what modules are you adding to your Z1 and where do you plan to mount them. I've got an N2 in my TJ w/XM and iPod. We mounted them and the nav unit under the passenger seat. That is tight. Of course, the TJ doesn't have height adjustment. Just curious as to what your plans are. I'm going to order a JK and probably go your route. Seems like there is a bit more relexibility.

ND-BT1 for BlueTooth adapter to answer cell phone calls via the radio
CD-IB100II to control my iPod via the radio
ND-BC1 Back-up camera
CD-SR1 remote control to attach to the steering wheel
Locations to mount them will be decided once my JK arrives.

Z1 doesn't fit
ummm guys i dont mean to rain on yall's parade but i was just at crutchfield.com and you can put in your car and it will tell you what stereos can and can't fit on your car. i put in 07 Jeep JK, and the AVIC-Z1 said specifically that it does not fit. ummm thats just what it showed for me i might be putting something in wrong.
so if anyone actually has put the Z1 in their car then they could inform us. the pioneer AVIC-N3 has a lot of the same features except for the flush mounting of the screen. i'm pretty sure that the jeep hole for the stereo is 1.5 din, and if you look at the mygig, it doesn't look nearly as big as the Z1
please correct me if im wrong
