Abigail and I have spent the last three years driving 60,000 miles together around the American West. We have driven through everything from dust storms in the desert to blizzards on mountain passes. I thought it would be fun to share the journey with you guys! In April we will begin another journey to Baja, up the coast to Vancouver, and to unplanned locations in Canada when the snow melts.

Easter Jeep Safari, Ball Joints, SPOD, & more
Got a bunch of work done and stuff installed in preparation for our road trip. Installed an ARB air compressor, sPod, Terafelx Ball Joints, and cut out the back to build a storage box!
The Teraflex Ball Joints where a game changer and finally fixed my dreaded death wobble. Installing them was not a smooth process and almost every step was a struggle.
After spending a day pressing the old joints out and the new ones in, we finally got her back on her feet. While pulling out of the driveway, a loud, awful, clunk was coming from the axle. We immediately jacked it up to figure out what was wrong. We found out the axle shaft on the passenger side was grinding aginst the new lower ball joint. In a panic, I measured everything up and compared and contrasted to the driver side which appeared fine to try to figure out what went wrong. The only thing I noticed was the knuckles on the axle shaft where just larger. After doing some research I figured out why Teraflex Ball Joints are made for 2007-2012 Jeeps.
A note to anyone trying to buy Teraflex Ball joints for their Jeep: After 2012, Jeep beefed up the knuckles on the axle shafts by about 1/4 of an inch. I drive a 2008 but got my passenger axle shaft replaced awhile back with what I guess is a newer shaft. I ended up having to angle grind down the knuckles slightly to make clearance for the shaft to spin over the new ball joint. This was not a problem to do and everything fit together now. That being said I LOVE THESE BALL JOINTS and everything drives very well!
I also really wanted to get on board air for this trip to do tire repairs if necessary. I have always had a comically hilarious mess of wires in my engine bay from the lights, switches, and winch. I really did not want to add the disaster of wiring that is the ARB Air Compressor to this so I finally pulled the trigger on an sPOD to clean up the mess.
The sPOD is Fantastic. Because of it, I managed to cut out about 15' of wiring harness out of my car. It also adds a very cool looking, clean interface to the inside of the Jeep!
After all of this was complete, we headed out to Moab for a day trip to Easter Jeep Safari to take everything for a test run!

Thanks guys for showing some support, it means a lot. We have a departure date of May 13th and are currently finalizing the route!

Hey Y'all! sorry for the long silence. Been camping for more days than I can count. It's been a wild ride of 2 months on the road, 7000 miles driven, and a whole mess of repairs. I tore a brake line, replaced two bearings, blew my radiator, replaced a steering knuckle, and caught on fire(https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...t-fire-342981/)!
It has been a truly great summer on the road. We have been to California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah! Here are some of my favorite pictures of the truck from this summer, the rest of the trip are over here an early life crisis
