2016 JKU Rubi. 50,000 +/- miles,
the controls just stopped working, fan control knob and others do nothing, no mater what position that you move them to. Fuse is good. Removed motor and it turns freely with no resistance. I’m assuming the device that is attached to the motor housing is the resister??? Mine is a 3 prong plug connection, Auto Zone parts computer gives me a 4 prong plug. What’s up with that??????
Anyone have experience with this?? Thanks in advance.
Just checked it out again. I put 12 volts to the blower motor via attached resister power plug prongs, using a 12volt Milwaukee tool battery, it worked. Then i tried plugging in the wire harness plug, turned on the jeep to both accessory position, and then run position and no power to plug. Checked fuses before and confirmed that all were good. So I’m not getting power through the controls. The mini orange “on” lights in the face of the three dials do light up when faces are pushed to turn on. I guess it’s time to pull the HVAC controls and test them somehow.
So i got the new OEM mopar control panel with the three climate controls installed. The extreme right knob blinked about 10 times and then ” drum roll please” ……….NOTHING!!! No different than the original panel. No power going down to the plug that connects to the rectifier on the blower. What could it be????? Triple checked all of the fuses in the fuse box, they are all good. For what it’s worth, the little foot well light attached to the blower housing works just fine. PS: anyone attempting to remove this out of your JK, work smarter, not harder. Grab your torque gun with an 18mm socket and remove the 4 bolts holding the passenger side front seat in place, and move the seat back as far as you can. Unless you’re a contortionist, it hurts to bend like you need to remove it with the seat in place. PS2: Also, you do not need to remove the driver side dash cover to get the control panel out. Just remove the window switches cover with a plastic tool. Remove the 7 mm bolt at the bottom thru the new opening. Gently pull/pry out the center dash cover bottom mostly on the right side, and then gently pull out the top of the control panels cover panel. Works just fine, but be careful. I have done this 5 or 6 times this week.
