Desent angles
On a four-door Wrangler with 35's and 2 1/2 inch lift does anyone's dissent angle cause them to hang up on their spare tire. I was thinking about putting a piece of angle in my receiver to keep that from happening. What's your thoughts and ideas

I can't be sure if your lift and tire combination if it would be an issue or not but I would think anything extended further out of the hitch receiver would get hung up more, since my hitch receiver is usually what is always hitting as is. Is it the factory tire carrier?

Depending on where your tire is mounted and how large it is, your experience may be different than mine, but that scraping sound I hear is the OEM receiver hitch, not the spare or anything else. I have relocated the muffler to stop that problem ...

It is a aftermarket tire carrier to hold my 35 but it uses same holes as stock

I haven't had any issues with mine yet but I have seen people catch the spare, usually dropping off ledges etc, it doesn't usually have good results. I found this pic trolling the internet. Maybe this is sort of what you are talking about. Smitty built also makes a rear stinger but I don't know much about it.

....I think something like that you'd have to remove whenever you want to open the gate too.

I have got the Steel on order I'm just going to fab one up

Descent is the word.
As in "The descent was harrowing." It's just English guys. No, I don't hit, but I don't take my Jeep crazy steep places either! Pretty mellow in my wheeling. All the best, CW |
I broke my spare tire right off the back of the tail gate dropping into some ruts then climbing out. bent my tailgate, broke the tire mount and tweaked the tailgate hinges.

Before i fixed the problem i used to use a drop down hitch upside down...
