Duratrac 285/70r17 Off Road Air Down PSI?
All,
I am going to be doing some easy to medium off roading in the next few weeks and would like to get an idea of what other folks air down to with the same outfit as my JKU. I normally ride on road at 28psi. What do most of you with this set up air down to? I will be upgrading to 315/70r17's very soon also so I would love to hear what people air those down to. Thanks, Mojo |
When I didn't have beadlocks I would run 10 PSI, with beadlocks I go down to 5 PSI

Sand driving on the beach I used to run about 8-10 PSI - not racing or dune carving just running along the sand to get to fishing spot type thing.
Heavy rocks, difficult slow 4 low type wheeling about 12 - 15 PSI Average trails with tough spots but mostly easier trail about 15 - 20 PSI Higher speed smoother trail, two track, desert trail running without many obstacles about 20 - 25 PSI depending These are all based over years of owning a 76 Toyota FJ40, 87 Suzuki Samurai, 2 Jeep TJs (97 Sport and 04 Rubi), 12 JKR, and 15 JKRU. I've never run beadlocks and various tires A/Ts and M/Ts varying in size from the stock sized Sami tires that were quite small with a good mix of sizes up to 35 MTRKs, and some narrow 33's as well. You will have to play with it a bit based on tire type/size as well as vehicle weight and balancing traction with ground clearance. HTH |
