Guys protect your junk!
Okay with a lot of us going bumper-less these days, for better departure angle, it's time we start protecting our carriers or risk twisting them like I did a couple of years ago on the Rubicon Trail. See it doesn't matter what this person or that person thinks the reality is if you put all the weight of your jeep on the carrier either coming down a ledge or bumping up one it doesn't make a bit of difference if it's a tailgate mount or tub mount you risk doing some damage. To help protect you carrier you can use a rear stinger out the hitch mount to help protect it from a direct hit. Trust me the stinger is a lot cheaper than buying a new carrier! :yup:
I know it doesn't look cool but hey it's effect realitively cheap insurance! http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...ps46db1fda.jpg From this view you can see how the stinger protected the carrier from taking a direct hit. http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...ps544c729c.jpg Twisted carrier http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...ps06549219.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...psa51dd777.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...psb09be12f.jpg carrier bolts all twisted http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...ps648ae846.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...ps20e3994b.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...ps13823612.jpg |

Yeah that makes sense. Yours does have a simple clean design. Looks very stout.

Yes!! I was just chatting about this.... I know I need one of these, with the ORF tire carrier (like you twisted Frank), and with the Rubicon coming up I gotta do something! I'm surprised a vendor isn't making a product for this yet!
