Guys protect your junk!

Okay with a lot of us going bumper-less these days, for better departure angle, it's time we start protecting our carriers or risk twisting them like I did a couple of years ago on the Rubicon Trail. See it doesn't matter what this person or that person thinks the reality is if you put all the weight of your jeep on the carrier either coming down a ledge or bumping up one it doesn't make a bit of difference if it's a tailgate mount or tub mount you risk doing some damage. To help protect you carrier you can use a rear stinger out the hitch mount to help protect it from a direct hit. Trust me the stinger is a lot cheaper than buying a new carrier! :yup:

I know it doesn't look cool but hey it's effect realitively cheap insurance!

From this view you can see how the stinger protected the carrier from taking a direct hit.

Hey frank! Nice thread. Where can I get one of these? Been looking for a couple months now

No particular place - you need to have someone or a shop fab one for you.

That's what I figured. I thought you were preparing us for a new cool product.

That really would be too short to offer much protection Kelsey but there are some that are pretty long and would work but this one, since it's curved, doesn't get hung up on everything.

I discussed the design a while back with a vendor on the forum who was going to produce them...not sure why that never happened there a more than a few people interested. Hit up Desert Jeep he's looking to have one done and I think it makes more sense if there are more than one being made. :yup:

Yeah that makes sense. Yours does have a simple clean design. Looks very stout.

Yes!! I was just chatting about this.... I know I need one of these, with the ORF tire carrier (like you twisted Frank), and with the Rubicon coming up I gotta do something! I'm surprised a vendor isn't making a product for this yet!

Thanks Kelsey its really simple but takes heavy machinery to make....hoping a sponsor picks up the idea and runs with it!
