Default Hi-Lift or Hi-Lift's FIRST RESPONDER ?

Is the Hi-Lift's First Responder better than the regular Hi-Lift for wheeling ?

From what I read, the advantage for wheeling might be the rotating base -- with wooden blocks to sit on, it might allow better grip in some circumstances.

Comments? – From firefighters who have used it, maybe?

Thanks!

Haha, never heard of it...we use hydraulic rams, but it sounds cool for wheeling. Any worries about it spinning off the rig tho?

i would be worried about it swiveling around while trying to use it on off camber situations. I would go with the original hi-lift.

Well, it doesn't spin freely of course.
It can be unlocked, rotated on it's base, then re-locked, before you use it.

The base can sit on longer wooden blocks.
Because it can be rotated, the blocks can be positioned either along the Jeep or perpendicular to it.

You can see it at - .....firstresponder.hi-lift.com

I like that base. Wonder if I can buy it separately. Also, I like the paint job - maybe I'll repaint my Extreme that way...

Yikes! These jacks are $230 each for the 48". That seems unreasonable for just new paint and a base.

Yeah, expensive.

I think of bolting a plate under the Hi Lift's base – shaped so wooden blocks can be placed under it in two directions, either '–' or 'I'. At the same time, it may have pegs at the 4 corners, which stick in the ground.

My department has one, and I have used it. It has a lot of functions from vehicle stabilization to clamping and different attachment points to use for pulling from different angles. I am going to buy the conversion kit for my hi-lift.

We have both versions.
Its the same exact jack, but the FR has an upgraded base and tip......not worth the price premium IMO.
