Offroading: Closest Medical Center

Last weekend, while offroading\hunting the thought crossed my mind that if we were involved in some type of accident, what would be the fastest way to get one of us to the closest medical center. Previously, I never really gave that much thought.

So - Tip: When planning your next trail run, do a little bit more research and find out where the closest medical facility is, and have a plan on how to evacuate quickly if need be.

Bring a gps, and be able to get those to 911 so they can send a chopper. Make sure your insurance will pay for the chopper. Or medical marijuana for the bumpy ride home.

Well, if I had the choice, I think I would have to take the bumpy ride home :brows:

Most places I go don't have cell service at all. I have heard of people using satellite phones, but I think they may be expensive.

I have one for SERT. It's $30 a month, but $3 a minute... And the phones are about $1500 too...

I believe most phones will use any available signal, activated or not, to call 911. Also REI (shameless plug) carries many PLB, or personal locator beacons for around 300-500. The newest one, is cheap (150), and has a monthly fee (10), but you can have it text or email your whereabouts to family members with the "help button" or calls the cav. with the 911 button! Just some thoughts...:dontknow2:
