Default Tow hitch question

I was looking into a tow hitch for my 2014 unlimited. I found one on amazon for 65 bucks or so. It is 3,500 pounds tow rating and 350lb tongue rate weight. I thought this was pretty cheep for a tow hitch but is this reasonable? According to stuff I've read the jeep 2014 can tow up to 3,500 or so....I'm not gonna be towing anything crazy I just wanted it for towing small things or for extra cargo carriers...._what do you guys think? Is this too cheap of a price to be spending on a tow hitch and is this enough weight for what I'm looking to do?

They are very simple in design and they are all pretty much the same. I buy all my towing stuff from eTrailer.

I paid $70 for mine and came with the wiring. just 4 bolts holding it to the frame. very easy to install. my neighbor has one on his jeep also and he puts his dirtbike on a dirtbike rack and carries it around with no issues. The bike probably weighs about 300lbs.

Quadratec started selling one in their brand...$59...and you can get free shipping. You can also find one on ebay pretty cheap if you keep a lookout and get lucky.

That's what I have and it's fine. I pull my popup camper with it. Just make sure you get the wiring harness with it. Some hitches look cheap until you see that you have to buy the wiring separately.

Not all 2014 JK's are rated to tow 3500 lbs. read the manual and you can see that some are only rated to 1000 lbs. Don't tear up your jeep by overloading it.

I agree they are all pretty much the same, and the Jeep is built very solid.

I wouldn't go cross-country with this setup but I did carry my 400lb (dry weight) F650gs around often.

I installed mine last night. $60 on amazon, harness included.

Rugged Ridge 11580.51 Black Receiver Hitch Kit with Wiring Harness

I also picked up an aluminum cargo carrier for $69 with coupon at HF.

Aluminum Hitch Cargo Carrier - 500 lb. Capacity

It's a tight fit but I was able to clear my 285/70/17 Duratrac spare.

I installed the same Rugged Ridge from Amazon for $60 that also includes the wire harness. It took about 30 minutes to install the frame hitch, I used a parts retrieval magnet to get the washers and nuts up to the bolts. That made it very easy. The wire harness was very well built with factory style plastic finned rivets that go into factory provided frame/body holes. The wire harness install took maybe 10 minutes. I was extremely impressed with the quality of fit and finish for such a great price. The same kit from Mopar is $200 and appears to be an identical twin to the Rugged Ridge.

I'll be pulling a 4'x8' utility trailer that weighs about 300 lbs alone (I can flip it over sideways myself to work on wiring) and camping gear/kids bikes.
