winch is a smoking....

Have a Rugged Ridge 8500 winch had to replace solenoid plug, went to try it skinny neg ground wire started smoking got real hot..No clue why????

Yea mines doing the same. I think it may be a grounding issue. Idk maybe to much corrosion or something. Still haven't fixed it

Yeah mine was shorting out under cover on solenoid .....

Sounds like the ground back to the battery is bad, or something on the hot side is touching the case when you are trying to winch in or out.

Yeah cover was pushing wire down on solenoid on little spot to short it out...
