[Pics] ShrockWorks Rock Sliders Installed
I received my ShrockWorks rock sliders last week (1 week sooner than expected) and installed them this past weekend. The workmanship of the sliders is very good including nice tubing bends, welds, and powercoat. The sliders were packed very securely and arrived in good conditon.
Prior to installation of the new rock sliders, I removed the OEM Rubicon rails and painted the rocker panel flange with black truck bed coating. Now the exposed rocker panel flange is not noticeable. The installation of the sliders was straight forward. It does require drilling three (3) holes in the outboard frame rails on each side. The location of the holes is critical and the diameter of the tapped holes is also critical. Once the holes are located, drilled and tapped, the installation is very easy.
After installation, I installed some slip resistant tape to the top side of each tublar rail. The new Shrockworks rock sliders look very nice, with the semi-gloss power coat finish. The rails are not cheap, but I am very satisfied with them.
The rails are very rigid and robust. They mount to the frame rail, and do not contact or mount to the body, as the OEM Rubicon rock rails did. I think the Shrockworks rails will protect the Wrangler body very well, both from the bottom and from the side.
I know the photos are not the best, but Southern California is having some "weather" this week.

Those look really great.
I am torn between them and the LoD Rock sliders. I think the LoD sliders mount similarly to the Shrockworks. Both look awesome and will definitely protect. I am interested in what you said about painting with bed liner the rocker panel flange. I too must remove the Rubi rails and was wondering how that would look with those now exposed with aftermarket rails.
Would be interested in additional pics when the weather cooperates with you... especially the part where you painted and now is exposed...

Couple thoughts:
The Shrockworks rock rails can be custom ordered to install with the Rubi rails intact. TORN did that with his two door and it looks very, very nice ...

I love my Shrockworks products, but anyone thinking of ordering needs to be aware that they charge your credit card up front, then are very unreliable on delivery dates. Search the forum and you can find plenty of folks who ignore that, then come back and complain about "the way Jim runs his business." I don't say that to discourage anyone from ordering their very excellent products, but rather to say if you're impatient and have a penchant to complain on this forum when things don't go as quickly as you'd like, you probably should look at other brands. Or, you can see if you get lucky with Screamin' Lizard Customs (another forum sponsor), which sometimes has their items in stock.
