Default 1965 Parkhurst M416A1 Trailer Rebuild

I bought this M416A1 (M416 with surge brakes) last year from a local seller on Craigslist. For $500 bucks it was a no brainer. He had a new brake cylinder, 3rd military tire, new OD green cover, and a ring receiver he threw in with the deal. I tore it down to the frame over the fall and POR-15'd the frame and underside of the body. I managed to fine a set of 5ea JK 17in rims with tires to match the jeep for another $200 (got to love Craigslist). I added new shackles, data plate, flipped the axle, swapped the brake plates to the opposite sides, and added spacer/adapters to accommodate the JK rims. To keep a little bit of its originality I used silver paint and added the Army unit data numbers to the front wall. It's all done for now except the hand brake and surge brakes. This will leave me another project to do over the next winter.

With the JK:

Very nice. I restored an M416 to pull behind my TJ. Sold the TJ and then the trailer thinking I'd never have another Jeep. I'm still kicking myself. I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

Nice! I just bought one myself. Where did you order the spacers/adapters for the rims? I didn't do th eframe off yet as the previous owner took care of the underside. Wish I could of scored mine for 500

edit: just looking at the pics...how do you open your tailgate on the jeep? I haven't lifted my trailer yet as it sits perfect behind my jeep. The pintle hook I have pretty much comes straight off the reciever.

I Love that.
if i had the money i'd be looking to do the same thing. Throw all the camping and wheeling gear in the trailer and go, that'd be awesome

Nice job on the trailer, it looks really good and matches your jeep perfectly.

Very nice job on the restore. You did a great job and reapplying the trailer numbers with data plates added a nice touch to it. Looks good.

Looks good. I did a lot of the same things to mine. Is there a reason you didn't use the 24 volt military lights that came on the trailer? I know they're 24 volt but you can swap out the bulbs for led's and wire up a 4 pin and be good to go.
