Default 2018 JK build- GOBI

Our 4th JK is a 2018 JK Sport S in GOBI ordered on August 9th, 2017 and delivered on October 20th, 2017 with the Power Convenience Group, Connectivity Group, Auto Trans, Hard Top and LEDs.

This Jeep will serve as my wife’s DD and our overlanding vehicle. Since many sanctioned rides have a maximum 37” tire rule, this build is focused on achieving a strong, yet good driving build for 37s.

Basic build overview:
Tera 44 Front axle
Teraflex CRD 60 rear
3" Lift
Cooper STT Pro 37x12.5x17 tires
(I'll post the complete(ish) parts list below)

Here's a pic from last night when we picked him up. I'll post back here with pics of each stage of the build

Here's a list of what's sitting in the garage and what's coming:
Teraflex Alpine CT3 Lift

Teraflex Front Bumper
Teraflex Rock Sliders

Parts are rolling in, only hiccup so far is the programmer. Seems there is a change for 2018,my buddy at our local 4WP called superchips and it might be a month or two before the programmers are out.
Anyone know of a '18 programmer that's already out??

Good news and bad news... Bad news: You don't own a 2018 because they haven't been released yet (2018 will be the new model JL) Good news: you can buy a programmer for the 2017.

Trust me, it's an '18. They're making the JK and JL this year, JL debuts Nov 29 at the LA auto show.

Yes both JKs and JLs will have a 2018 model. Telltale sign for Blue is the sticker on the side. Zoom in and you can see it has JK after Wrangler. Guess this is FCAs way of making sure there is no confusion.

You know this JK/JL thing is going to be bad when even Jeeples are confused

So the first workshop is in the books. Our goal with these workshops was for newer Jeepers to get in and see what's going on under their Jeep. And get their hands dirty & see what different mods do. We started at 6pm and went until about 10.

We tore down the front axle and removed it, tore down the rear and removed it. Built the rear Teraflex CRD60 and installed, built the front Tera44 but haven't installed it. So we'll continue on Friday and Saturday, order drive shafts on Monday and wrap it up next Wednesday (hopefully)

Pre-tear down meeting:

The wife was the first one to jump in and start tearing down. She decided she likes the impact driver and said she'll rotate her own tires now. We'll see

Pulling the front axle out:

Cutting the bump stop tubes and installing the Teraflex speedbumps:

Pulling the rear axle shafts and installing the brakes:

Our buddy Blain sustained a wound from some screws, but like a true Jeeper he pushed thru the pain:

Photobomb from Chris

Getting the rear CRD60 put into place

Almost there! Good shot of the Alpine arms

And dreaming we were done and the wheels/tires were on

Should have taken some pictures of the other builds going on in his shop, here's one of the 3 trucks that were in there:

Picked up the Poison Spyder fenders from Line-X, they look pretty good.

Stay tuned
