Attention all unlimited owners!!!

I have a question for all unlimited owners. I have been debating over the last couple months if I want to get behind the wheel of an Unlimited Rubicon, instead of the 2 door which I have now. It's going to be my daily driver and I want to lift it ( 4 inch with 35's). I want to know your setup's of your rigs' and what kind of mpg you get. It is 75 miles round trip for me to work, so gas mileage is kinda a concern. If you could tell me the specs of your setup, it would help my decision. Thank you all for the help.

2008 unlimited sahara w/3.21's
2.5" rc coils / shocks
18x9 kmc rockstars
33x12.50 r18 toyo open country mt's
CAI
aftermarket exhaust

i use my rig as a daily driver (i'm in canada) and as listed above i get 15.6L/100km. you gotta do the conversion.

STOCK i was getting around 13.6L/100km

before the lift / tires / wheels BUT with a CAI and aftermarket exhaust i was getting near the same @ 13.0L/100km.

so i lost 2.6L/100km from stock...that = around $2.50/100km which = to about $12.50/fuel tank here in canada right now...no biggy...definitely worth the capability / stance difference...go for it!

i think the gear ratio is what saves my fuel economy in my rig. i drive about 80km daily round trip for work with it being 90% freeway (albeit stop and go both ways) and 10% streets

i'll also add that after the lift / wheels / tires 6th gear on the freeway is almost if not entirely useless. i need to downshift sometimes 1 or 2 gears if i come to a hill or want to pass. annoying? not really with the exhaust it sounds awesome so i don't really care...
hope this info helps...good luck dude and post pics w/whatever you end up doing!

I'm not sure how much different your gas mileage will be compared to your 2-dr. I have an 8.75" lift on 40" tires and I'm lucky to get 12mpg with a Gibson exhaust, intake and throttle body spacer.....regardless of how good I drive it.

I would say choose the Unlimited based on it's ability to carry 4 adults comfortably plus all your gear in the back. When you fold the rear seats down it also provides a great deal of cargo room to haul stuff around. I'm sure, "I wish my Jeep was bigger (more room)" is said more often than, "I wish my Jeep was smaller (less room)".

But to each his own. BTW, when I am able to drive my Jeep to work, I do about 40 miles round trip so the bad gas mileage hasn't been a major concern of mine. Though if it had been, I may not have gotten a Jeep :D

I have a TF 2.5" coil and 33's. I'm getting about 17-18.5mpg. I take it pretty easy on the skinny pedal for the most part.

2.5 TF on 35s w/4.10s and I get about 15ish

TeraFlex 06-22-2009 01:59 PM

4"LA with 37's, 5:13's and just filled it up today and got 17.36 mpg from my last tank. :ya:

ranwitscissorz 06-22-2009 03:41 PM

37" 6.5" lift, 4.10 gears, 9.8 mpg

Gateway Aquatics 06-22-2009 03:59 PM

08x 3.73 , 4" Teraflex and 35's - 12.5 mpg around town, 13.5-14 highway
Regearing to 5.13 very soon to hopefully get 15-16mpg or so.

Ouch. At least you get bad mileage in style.

:( I'm hoping I just need to get an AEV procal and get an extra 1-2 mpg, otherwise all this weight is killing me.
