I finally took the plunge and ordered parts. Long story short I put the breaks on my original idea and am taking a slightly more conservative route. I ended up going with Metalcloak bumpers (style 1202 front and crawler rear), Warn 9.5 cti-s winch, Argent AEV Pintler wheels, and Nitto Trail Grappler 35s. Going to trim the factory flares to run 35s at stock height. Also have EVO lower control arm skids and C gussets on the way.

I'll post up pics along the way as I put it together, It will be about a month by the time the bumpers get here. Thanks for reading along!

Woohoo! Parts came in early last week. Been a busy week with work so it took longer to get the pictures up than I figured. Got the tires mounted up and in stock form, the only place they rubbed was on the rock rails. I didn't get a picture taken before I trimmed them, but there was a half inch of clearance stationary. I did not have any contact anywhere else with the fenders stock for daily driving purposes. There was plenty of clearance to hit any normal bump in the road.

I used pin striping to lay out the cut lines. I took half the width of the flare and measured up from the bottom to set the angle. I tried going higher but it didn't look right. My recommendation with the pinstripes is have plenty of light and don't try to measure a set distance. Follow the curve on the trim, and keep laying it down till its right. Little bit of patience and it will lay down perfect. When you go around a curve, pull a little tension and the pin stripe will bend wherever you need it to lay. I cut it with a dremel and a utility knife. It cleaned up nice with an orbital sander.

I love how it turned out. Cannot wait to get the bumpers in. There is plenty of clearance at stock height. I haven't gotten to flex it anywhere to see how much contact I'll have on the flares when it goes to full bump.

looks good! Im personally like the look of the fenders when they are cut more, surprised how nice it sits with the 35s and no lift. What lift do you plan on installing?

wheels777 07-31-2014 11:52 AM

Thanks! I actually don't have any immediate plans for a lift. When I do install one, it will most likely be a RK or MC lift, and only 2.5". This is my DD so I'm trying to make it as capable as I can without adding height. It drives fine up to 70. Above 70 you can really feel the added wind from opening the front up.

Do you have any
Plans to put a budget boost or something else in the front after you add the bumper and winch? Mine sat 1.75 inches lower in the front them the back after adding frt bumper and winch. I ended up just getting a budget boost until I lifted it. Ran it that way for a year.

Hmm. Wasn't expecting it to sit that much lower. I guess I'll decide that when I see how it sits. Thanks for the heads up
