Damn jmat, that looks really good with the Red Rock paint! Did you have to hand sand them down? If so, ouch. Either way it was worth the effort

My Jeep is flame red and I would like to do them red.
I haven't even seen red rattle can bedliner, but in case you're wondering what Flame Red looks like with black bedliner:

A lot of us have, even in as short a period as a year, have had the paint start to bubble and peel off of the hinges. Bedlining them is a quick, cheap, and cool alternative to trying to get them repainted under warranty.

Looks great man. I did the same thing to mine, just have to finish with the hood hinges. I used Duplicolor's bed liner spray tho.

But, I understand line-x do color matching on the bedliner. We don't have a local line-x franchise :-(

I took them off...I wouldnt try this with them on the jeep...

Just for looks...and also, the paint can get trashed from rocks being kicked up...

Did you exacto knife the paint around the hinges to get them off?
Nope, no need, just unscrew em' and pull them off...

Ya, I sanded them down...once you hit that first hinge with 220 grit there is no turning back

I have to touch them up again tho....When I put the torx bolts back on it did strip the bedliner just a tiny bit inside where the driver goes. Ill just make a cardboard template to go around the hinge and just hit it real quick. You cant even really notice it, but I do....

Just did the Grill as well...while I was at it, I threw on the Rugged Ridge light guards and some black decals...still waiting on the black JK decal

Default Door Alignment?

Thanks for all the pics... I have a Red Rock Sahara Unlimited and I am considering doing this as well (already had the dealer repaint once and they are bubbling again). Was it hard to line the doors back up on the jeep (did they shut OK)? Has anyone had any issues with the bedlined hinges 6 - 12 months later?

Looks GREAT!

Alligning them back was a bit of a pita...
you can clearly see where the hinges were before, and I went the extra step and marked ea hinge so they went back on the same door in the same location as original. The drivers door was the only one that went on without a problem...

I found the best way was to put the hinges on the door where they look like they should go, then put the door on. If the allignment is off, losen the screws while the door is still on and hold the door in the position that it should be and have someone tighten them back up...if I did it that way from the beginning it would have been much easier, but I tried a few times to do it by taking the doors off and on and trying the hinge in different positions...that would have never worked...

Did mine a few weeks ago too and they came out great. The paint under mine was starting to bubble and chip off. I removed the hinges, shot blasted down to the bare metal and sprayed them down. I too marked where they came off and had NO problem lining them back up. The doors actually close and line up better now than how they came from the factory I did replace the bushing in them too.

Great advice, Thanks!! Look forward to finishing mine soon.

Any one heard of further bubbling or peeling issues after they have been bedlined?
