Evolution of JK Thang for Moab EJS 2011
As some of you might recall last year about this time we jumped into the Coil Over game opting to go with Off Road Evolutions front 12" Coil Overs and their then recently release ORE Valved King Shocks with ORE Plush Springs in the rear. We may have been one of the first to run the "hybrid" system (a cross between all coil overs and their Enforcer system) but we certainly weren't the last as this set up has really grown in popularity and we now know why!
The entry price to begin realizing the advantage of coil overs made it a great first step towards a full on bad ass crawler build IMHO. Some in the pre-JK world have run that setup for years with a lot of success! For us it's been a great year of gaining more confidence to tackle bigger and bigger obstacles and tougher lines. Even off camber is not a problem which many thought was a limitation of the coil overs. And the advantage of coil overs didn't stop once you left the trail either...those pot holes and crappy roads suddenly became smooth again as the coil overs fill holes by design making our on road experience that much better! For those interested, Here's a thread from last year.

Now that takes us to almost 1 year to the day later and we are taking another plunge and adding Off Road Evolutions rear EVOLever and ORE Valved King Coil Overs! Along with that we're adding a Long Control Arm kit for better drivability on road. Having previously built a great relationship with Tera Flex (we ran their short arms for a couple of years) we opted to go with their LCA kit for this build.
For those of you who are currently running the hybrid setup this change is like the one you experienced going from your previous setup to the coil overs and King Shocks but just a bit more. We know this because several of our friends are already running the full coil over with LCA setup and we've ridding in their rigs on the trails as well as the road. It really sold us because the ride feel is like floating on a cloud. So as of today our JK Thang is up at Off Road Evolution getting the following installed to make the Moab EJS 2011 experience (and the drive to Moab, UT) that much better.
PSC Ram Assist
EVOLever and rear Coil Overs
Tera Flex LCA
Magnum 44
EVO rear rock skins
EVO D-ring Frame Cap Mounts
Poison Spyder BFH Rear Bumper (opted not to install it...for sale here)

Currently we are on day 3 of a 5-6 day build.

Day 1:
All the existing control arm brackets where cut off and axle assy's, gas tank, drivelines, etc. removed. Really a weird look.

Hey were finally taller than Moby Dick!

No turning back now...were all in!

Day 2:
Yep looks like it's all there!

With all the old brackets out of the way the new brackets get burned in. If you've ever seen the welds by the guys at ORE you know they look like works of art!

Gas tank going back it is a sure sign the brackets are in and it's time to start bolting in the new suspension!

**All pics stolen from Project-JK as well as Off Road Evolutions facebook page...if you aren't signed up yet you should really good stuff!
