I'm looking to do a Hemi conversion and was hoping to keep my jk a manual. i hear that a Getrag 238 is the way to go. when searching, i cant find anything on it. i see that Dan from Burnsville Offroad uses it for his Hemi conversions with manual transmissions. does any one know how to get one? i was hoping to get one from a salvage yard along with the hemi because it is cheaper on my wallet but when i search online, nothing really comes up that furthers my search. does any one have any input on where to get one or any knowledge on it? thanks!

 

Jerry @ Screamin Lizard did my hemi conversion using the Getrag 238. I would give him a call - he can steer you the right direction as well as share his experience on the install.

 

Do u like have it a manual.. If I wanted auto then it would make this easier ca I would go with a different tranny.. Is it a heavy clutch or a pain to drive?

 

I love it! Clutch "feel" is about the same as stock. The only thing I would do different is change from the stock 3.21 gears to 4.11's. This is my daily driver and unfortunately doesn't get off road too often, so I was keeping the stock gears for hwy mileage (avg 15-16 at max 70 mph). I might sacrifice a little gas mileage at the higher gear ratio but would probably like it a bit more.

Otherwise, no complaints whatsoever!

 

Anyone know the size thred on the shift knob on the getrag 238? want to change mine. By the way it's a great trans did a hemi 6.4 swap and its great smooth and crisp

 

Old thread... Which flywheel / clutch works best with the Hemi / Getrag 238? Anyone know if a 2008 Ram 2500 flywheel and clutch will work? I saw it mentioned in an off-road magazine once...
