But here is where the Jeep Purist in me comes out....Why a Hemi???? Jeeps are made for crawling....not for flying over rocks!!!!
Well, I for one have had nothing but major problems since I've lifted my JK 3.8L piece of poo. It was made for a Caravan NOT a Jeep that has been lifted, getting 37" tires and heavy rims and bumpers. It is blowing oil out past the rings at a rate of a quart every 350 miles. I have used Mobil 1 since the first oil change and all of my work is done by ASE Master Techs with decades of experience with jeeps.
I have read in several forums of the issue and of course Dodge will do zip about it though they are fully aware. the motor was not designed for that kind of strain. I have NOT even had it out 4 wheeling once yet and it only has 28, 000 miles on it. Only about 15k since the lift, etc were done.
so...WHY a Hemi?....it has the power needed for any upgrades since they took away the good , reliable Jeep motor.

However, at the time I thought 340HP was plenty for a family cruiser but I think now I would really like the extra 85HP at times!

I know my dream of a 5.9L CTD is almost unrealistic especially to squeeze into a JK as well the weight would kill the frame! Having upgraded my CTD on my RAM the power you can get out of them is just insane just by adding stackable performance chips or programmers, exhaust & bigger turbo, upgrading the torque converter.
CTD is not realistic but a 4BT cummins swap is doable. Jeffs Jeep Yard in Florida has done it and is coming out with a DIY option. That's the route I'll go when this POS 3.8 bites it.

37s, winch, body armor, bumpers and you haven't taken it off road once in 3 years?
Have you swapped gears?
You do know that your transfer case has a low range for off road use, right?

Not sure why anyone does those types of mods... then never lets it see the mud and rocks like it was meant to... I think this goes side by side with the term mall crawler but i could be wrong...

Default 2010 Rubicon unlimited BOR Hemi Conversion

I just had completed a 5.7 hemi truck motor conversion on my JK. I worked with the team at Bunsville West in Denver. Great group to work with. Quality operation, quality people and very customer oriented.
I now have about 1500 miles on it and there is no comparision of my current set up to the stock motor!
Wether you are on the road or off road ....huge difference and loads of fun! I will post more detail later.

I had my 5.7vvt conversion done by Trailjeeps in Boulder, CO. My 2010 JKU is a totally different vehicle now. These guys are also VERY experienced in these conversions (see their Facebook page) and are a pleasure to work with since they work with an authorized dealership and are all Jeep owners themselves. They have clients all over N. America and use AEV kits.
