Default Made my own seat cover

It's not a towel with a piece of elastic, and it's not a blankets scrunched up and sewn to drape over the seat, I spent 3 and a half hours today getting half of my rear seat done.
I used black Sunbrella canvas, red thread, some half inch scrim backed foam, and an industrial Juki sewing machine.

I measured the rear sections of the seat, cut out my pieces (roughly) sewed on the foam for the two seat inserts and cut out the finished pieces and began sewing them together. After getting the main piece of the bottom on, i figured why no make it more, "my own". Here is the only pic i took today of the bottom cover, i will definately get alot more pictures tomorrow, i just wanted to tease.

UPDATE 5-2011

I make alot of "soft" mods covers, cushions, etc..

Here is a couple pics of the cover i made yesterday, the fit is great! i just need to make the two areas where the seat inserts are tighter.

Hand drawn, and stitched very carefully

The cover wraps around the back of the bottom of the seat

I used my loop and velcro Seat belt material and sewed on some heavy duty velcro, but after actually installing it they were twice as long, so for the time being i just pinned them and cut off the excess.

Some of you may have noticed that little strap across the width,
There i just ran a 2 lines holding strips of velcro so i could pull the side pieces tight

With time i'll get the top section done, but for over three and a half hours into it, i'm happy.

And this canvas material won't fade, won't fall apart, and it's waterproof. Plus, if i rip or tear it up i can use it as a pattern to make a better one.

oh don't get me wrong it was a pain in the ass to make and get it right, And stuff like this is big money. I have had a ton of people ask me about making them seat covers for their TJ's and CJ's, but for what some companies are asking for their covers, people would be better off just buying a set of those. I put alot of work into my stuff, so i'm not advertising, just showing what my latest project is.

It looks freaking beautiful. Looking forward to seeing how you do the back rest section and the headrests!

These are padded covers, There is 1/2 - 3/4 inch foam between the headrest itself and the vinyl covers, the rear ones are nice and soft to the touch. I got creative when i made these and sewed in some spider webs, they came out great

thanks shockwave, I can do alot of simple stitching, as long as the machine stays in check and i don't screw up the timing and that it usually works out, but sometimes i get big knots in the bottom and it messes tup the whole process.

I'm not sure what i should put in the seat back. Should i put another "JK" in the middle? or should i put "Jeep" in it? Doing letters is kinda complicated because getting curves just right is hard to do when you have to guide the canvas in just right
Since i'm going into the medical field i could do a medic cross in the middle too...

Any ideas on the seat back?
