Default More roof rack progress pics

Started fitting and welding the side bars. Once I get them in place I'll start fitting up the two crossmembers and the upright supports. After that comes the expanded metal and the light tabs...then FINALLY the frame to bolt it all to the Jeep. Here are a few pics.

Thanks, dan! Didn't mention this in any of the other posts but here is a quick materials list. I am sure there will be other incidental stuff in the future.
1.) 1" x 1/8" (11-ga) square tubing. So far I have a total of 80 linear feet in it at a total cost of about $75. I am sure there will be more.
2.) 40 square feet of 1/2" expanded metal for the bottom and sides of the basket part.
3.) About half a spool of 0.035" flux core MIG wire (yes I went back to the flux core because it was easier and I got better weld penetration)
4.) Various pieces of 1/8" plate for gussets, mount plates, light tabs, jack/shovel mounts, and swivel points
5.) As yet unknown amounts of POR-15 rust inhibitor and Herculiner to coat the whole thing. I HATE rust!
Other materials will be listed as the build progresses. I am sure there will be other stuff like machine bolts and clevis pins as this goes on. I'll post up pics of the add-ons as I get them built and attached. I am still thinking of how to make the thing soft-top-friendly so I can fold my top back with minimal effort. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Just went to the steel yard and got the last of the metal for the project. I got 4 10-foot joints of the 1" square tubing and 2 4'x8' sheets of expanded metal. It is REALLY hot outside here in (too) sunny Shreveport so I may wait a while before I go out there and start working.

Finished getting the uprights and the crossmembers welded into the base frame today. I may end up putting some lengthwise supports into the bottom of the frame before I start fitting up the expanded metal tomorrow. Tell me what you guys think! I think it is gonna be a kickass set-up!
