Offroading is great, until.....
Definitely worth soaking a pair of shoes by walking across first, unless you guys have gators down there.
Glad to see you testing the limits though!
No shame in getting stuck. Hope you get it dried out soon.

Sunk the front end? Ugh, yes that sucks. Always let the cheapest vehicle go first!

My crystal ball is saying after this event..... "a Snorkel is in your future!"
Good luck with the repair hope you didn't fry your motor or have any electrical gremlins start popping up after that deep dive!

To answer your questions -
1. Insurance said they would cover it, which is great because this thing went deep.
2. It might not look deep but the water was over the windshield in the front. If you draw a line from the center of the hard top to the curve on the fender and imagine it siting at a 45° angle... Yea it was deep.
3. Snorkel is definitely in my future.
4. As soon as I get the repairs finished S.S. Grim_Creation is getting rattle canned white across the back bumper.
5. I didn't test it because there was supposed to be a bridge there, apparently with all the rain we had on saturday it decided to hide and also wash part of it away. Go figure it's now just wide enough for 4-wheelers to go by.
6. Wasn't worried about shoes as I was wearing sandals and brought my boots just in case.. Looks like it didn't matter.
7. While I was hooking up the chain, something brushed past my foot, I thought it was just the chain... Looked, chain was nowhere near my foot. I said something to the guy pulling me out and his reply is "must've been a gator". I'm thinking oh great at this point.. Then I'm thinking "the hell with it" and hooked it up and got the hell outa that water.
I will say I was skeptical about the d-rings I bought from northern tools in va beach, but after looking at them closer... These are heavy duty forged 3/4" 12000lb breaking strength d-rings with a 3/4" grade eight screw pin. You could puck the damn Jeep off the ground with these things.
Adjuster is coming out tomorrow to assess the damage, hopefully all checks out fine with the engine. Really hoping the winch is fine and that disconnecting the battery saved the computer.
