Painted Hard Top
Well some one had to be first on this. Painted my hard top yesterday with a metallic silver color. Got tired of climbing into an oven when it sits out in the sun for a few hours. I can tell already its going to make a big difference. I pulled the top off and removed all the gasket material, then used a grey 3m scuff pad to knock the shine off the black. When I went to the autobody paint store I had the experts come out to see what I wanted to paint and they recommend "Omni MTK Acrylic Urethane" single stage paint. I masked everything off and shot it with five coats of paint.
There was no wind here yesterday so I did it right out in the driveway. I'm real happy with the way it came out. :) Yea"s, Nay's? http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/9...vertop3kj6.jpg http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/8...vertop4ku7.jpg |
Looks good. At first glance I thought you were confused and meant to buy a toyota ;)

Mmmmmmm.......
Not sure. Maybe I'd have to see it in person to decide. |
dsy, I think it would look really cool if you painted the sections of your top you left black, the same red as the rest of your JK.

That looks great, you have to tell me if it helps with the heat. I'm planning on taking my to a paintshop and having my done, but after seeing your I might just do it myself.

i think that it would look good if you painted the rest of the hard top the same color... it may be a little more difficult taping around the windows, but i think it would be worth it... two tone instead of three... Ludwig Miles Van Der Rohe once said "less is more"

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I like it or not...

I like it, its just like my 69 Jeepster red with a white pickup top! Old School!!
I do think the rest of the black red would look real good. |
