Pics of 295/70/R17 Tires? Badass IMO

I saw the Toyo Open Country M/T 295/70/R17 on mickfluff's JK
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/uplo...f/PB160059.JPG

I think they look badass on the JK w/o lift.
Any more pics of this size?

firemanli 01-26-2011 06:30 AM

They do look great!

There are several rigs on the forum with Toyo 295s.

Here are some of my favorite examples:

Did you say the 295's fit with no lift? I have a stock 2011 sport, and as I don't have money for lift/tires/gears, I have thought about just getting some more aggressive tires, and I wondered how much bigger I could go before I lose the off-road benefit (i.e.- rubbing with articulation)...

BStelling 01-26-2011 07:39 AM

I love my 295's, they work great for me

They fit fine w/o lift…I don’t have these yet but I can only imagine that there will be some rubbing off-road. Someone who has these can let us know

Lookin' good !!! My first round of mods on my 07 , I had Nitto Terra Grapplers in the same size with 1.5 Spidertrax wheel spacers accompanied by a two inch BB. Man that was perfect. I should have stopped there but had to have 37s. Oh well hindsight.

speed2005 01-27-2011 05:00 AM

thanks for the pics..keep them coming

You say you should have stopped with 295s? Why do you say that? MPGs not great on 37s? :dontknow2:

Might as well add mine to the collection. 295/70/17 Toyo MT's on a Teraflex Leveling Kit w/ Spidertrax wheel spacers.

And comparing it to the stock Rubi tire:

Thanks. The Leveling Kit is from Teraflex. Here's their description:

This leveling kit adds 2" to the front and 1" to the rear, effectively leveling the 2 or 4 door's factory rake stance. The kit comes with front sway bar links. You can run a 33-34" tall tire with this kit. If you prefer to run the factory wheels, you may need wheel spacers for proper clearance. Fits 2007+ newer Wrangler and Unlimited models.

Here's the link to the product on the Northridge site:

http://www.northridge4x4.com/proddet...rod=TF-1155200

Basically, its an inexpensive spacer lift option to run up to a 34" tire (without messing around with any other parts on your JK that can happen when you start to lift higher). Works great!

JKs come from the factory with a rake to the front. A leveling kit consists of coil spacers or springs that bring the front to be level with the rear while at the same time raising both a bit.

Here is the TeraFlex spacer leveling kit and here is the coil spring version.

On edit: Looks like Merlin beat me to it. lol

Thanks guys. Just wondering, why does the JK have a rake? Must be for some reason
Also, are the springs a better solution vs the spacers?

Merlin did you try this setup without spacers first? Great looking Jeep.

Thanks. Do you mean wheel spacers or the coil spacers? But I guess the answer to both is no. I installed the lift and wheel spacers both before I got my tires, because after researching on here, I figured that it would definitely rub. For the cost of them, it just made sense. Didn't want to do the steering stops, as I love the turning radius of my JK, and didn't want the tires rubbing my fenders.

I meant without wheel spacers. Your reply answers my question(s) thanks.

Got mine at a local tire place, because Discount Tire Direct doesn't carry Toyo. They do carry the Cooper's though, which was a close second.

JKOMP 02-02-2011 03:05 PM

Anyone else have the Cooper STT in the 295/70r17? Just called discount tire and the sales guy I talked to is giving me a pretty decent price on them, almost the same price as the 285's. Also, is there any con's to getting a 295 vs a 285 tire?? I don't see a whole lot of folks run the 295's. You wouldn't need to regear with the 295's would you?

JoKer1050 02-02-2011 03:26 PM

those toyo's are nice...need my tax return to come now!

luisjg 02-02-2011 04:34 PM

I Just recieved my 285 75 17 ,, alomost the same 34 x 11.6

Try treadepot.com they were the cheapest price I found for the cooper stt 295's.....and no I don't think there are any cons its not really a big difference and I'm running the 295's on my 2 door with an automatic and the 3.73 gearing with no problems

cosmec 02-03-2011 07:21 AM

Anyone with 33" cooper STT's have experience with them in the snow? I love the way they look but my jeep will spend alot more time in the snow than mud.

Thanks.
