Point of thick tube on tube doors?
Whats the point of using thick tube on tube doors?
If something hits you on the side, the tube door would crush, latch and hinges are the weak spot. so basically, they are to keep you in (or with a cover) to keep elements out.
Am i right in this thought process?

That the main reason?
im asking because im thinking of tube doors, but mainly as a structure to hold cloth half doors (or vinyl). Saw some i like, but the tube was pretty thick and didnt see a reason for it

That's right, only for keeping you in or stuff out.
The same goes with the factory doors. They're not inteded to provide any safety in a crash either according to one of the stickers
somewhere inside my 2011.
