All that, and I like to estimate weights high just to be safe.
hilarious....

I upgraded this year to a 2017 Ram Rebel 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi and 3.92 gears to pull my 24.5' flatbed and the JK. It tows very nicely, plenty of power, plenty of braking, the self level air ride works great. The only complaint I hve is the old 7.3L Powerstroke got 16-17 MPG empty and 12-13 MPG towing while this Hemi gets 18-19 MPG empty and 8-9 MPG towing. I was not expecting the MPG hit to be so severe :-(

I am using a REESE weight distribution hitch rated to 12,000 LBS, a 9,990 GVWR trailer, the trailer is around 2,600 lbs empty and the JK is 4,500-5,000 lbs. The truck is rated to pull a max trailer load of 9,450 by FCA. The trailer has electric brakes on all 4 wheels and the truck has the tow package with the integrated (and amazing!) brake controller. This brake control is 1,000 times better than the Valley Odyssey control in my fathers F-350 that I was borrowing before I got this. That thing is junk compared to the new integrated brake control systems.

Over a 3,500 trip that fuel economy hit adds a huge amount of cost to the travel expenses getting from Pittsburgh PA to Ouray CO. or Moab UT.

At $3.10 a gallon for diesel in the Powerstroke at 12 MPG I would be at $904 fuel cost.
At $3 a gallon mid grade fuel in the RAM at 8 MPG I am at $1312 fuel cost.... so $408 extra in fuel spent on the gasser.
(Estimated prices here in Western PA currently. We do have severely high fuel costs due to taxes in this state compared to the rest of the country.)

I tried the Raptor, but it just isn't a tow beast, even supercharged. The Super Duty is a tow beast.
