Cool Stock towing tested sat on my 2 door!!!

The trailer is dual axel and I am guessing the boat weighs about 3500 pounds. I drove it twice about 10-15 miles each time taking her out of the water and into storage. Jeep handled okay with it. Even had a couple big hills to take it up.
I looked online a long time debating whether or not I wanted to tow with the JK, hope this helps someone out there.Click image for larger version

wow didnt even set your back end down to much.. Did the jeep have any issues shifting while driving. I have to tow a trailer approx 4,000 lbs or about 45 miles on mostly flat highway but dont want the constant shifting of gears,

I have an auto, but it did not seem to have any real issues. I was going about 60 on the highway with no problems. My trailer has brakes as well which definitely helps a lot. I think the guys above are right about the weight.. probably more about 4500-5000, I am horrible at guessing stuff like that. The boat its self is 24 foot with an inboard out board that is the equivalent to a V6 so there is quite a bit of weight there. If you have an auto I would guess you are probably good for that distance. I mean your jeep is not going to love you for it, but it will still pull it. Makes me wonder what it would be like with one of those RIPP GEN 2 Superchargers on it

Your towing with 140ish rear whee HP and 160ft/lbs of torque - With the GEN2 you'd have 230whp/240ft/lbs.... it would be a hellavalot easier to accelerate to speed.

Personally, I towed my golf cart on a small utility behind the JK one day and thought it was too much.

These things just aren't made for towing. Be interesting to see how many JK owners have a truck also sitting in the garage for the towing duty.

<-- F350 sits and does the tow duty, JK gets every other duty.

Man, I remember reading something in the manual about towing 2,000lb. max with 3.73 gears for a two door (1,000lb. for 3.21 gears) and 3,500 lb. for a four door. If you get in an accident pulling something above the weight limit, you could be screwed. Hey.... nice boat.

That boat is way too big for your JK.

It's a Bayliner, correct? It weighs at least 5000lbs with a single I/O without fuel or water or gear, plus the weight of the trailer. 100 gallons of fuel, 30 gallons of water, gear and whatever you have in your holding tank will push that up another 1000lbs easy.

The funny thing about towing is that its never a problem until its a PROBLEM. Then it's a new transmission.
