Default tire carrier on stock bumper build

Well I started tonight. I am going to build a tire carrier with the stock bumper in place. It has been done before but mine is going to be diff. I am going to fab my own hinge (wish me luck with that). It's going to be frame mounted and swing away from the tail gate. I will post pics and walkthrough as I go. Hope this helps someone.

First I started by cutting the stock bumper for my make shift hinge to go through to the frame. After I make the bracket to attach the hinge and get the bumper back in place I am going to plastic weld the the part I cut out back in place.

Pic of the cut out off the jeep.

I will post back up tomorrow after the backet and first part of the hinge is welded to the jeep with pics of the process.

Should work, but one word of advice, make sure before you weld you've ground down to clean shiney metal. It will make your welding a lot stronger, and easier to weld too. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Yeah I did sand the paint off with my dremel before welding.

Went ahead and welded some braces inside the frame to keep the side wall from giving under weight.

Also went ahead and built me a hitch from my tow hook bracket.
Cut the tow hook out and welded in a $10 hitch recover from the auto parts store. $10 hitch can't beat that.

Ol if anyone cares. Bumper is back on you have to cut out some of the back but it will depend on what ur bracket is like. Going to cut some pieces and plastic weld then in to cover the holes.
