I read in a lot of the posts where people level their vehicles removing the factory forward rake. Is it purely an aesthetic thing? I understand making adjustments due to bumper/winch weights, but I kind of like the look of a little forward rake.

If you like the rake, leave it alone and enjoy it. With the rake it gets better MPG. Also, if you load it up with people, tools, camping grear, etc the rake levels out - which means if you level it empty it will be a tail-dragger when loaded up. I leveled mine out because it looks too low and car-like from the factory. With my TF kit it looks more like a capable SUV, along with the Spidertrax wheel spacers it's a broader, manly look. Kind of like the Brawny paper towel man compared to Snuggles the fabric softener bear.

See "Carolina Squat" One of the dumbest looking things you can do to a vehicle. Even those who are just trying to level it sometimes end up with the rear lower than the front.

I wanted more clearance for my 33s. That's why I used the leveling kit. It was enough lift to run the tires I wanted to run. I may toss on a 1" body lift for tucking the fender wells.

What is the purpose of this Carolina Squat other than wanting to look stupid! I installed 4 dr springs, shocks. I would like to later add either leveling kit or spacers down the road. I am hoping due to having the stiffer springs off of a 4dr I won't have that problem when loaded down. If I just go with one spacer on each corner I should still keep my rack as well.

I leveled mine just to make it look a little more aggressive - it was only $140, I got to become acquainted with my suspension, and it scratched my lift itch. In my eyes, money well spent.

I did it for an additional 2" of lift in front and 1" of lift in the rear. Made room for my wide 33s.
