I have worked on a lot of small projects with it so far and it works great for what I am doing. I have made a passenger side mirror mount that extends it far enoug and fits around my snorkel. I made a stand for the welder itself. couple other small things as well. I haven't broken a weld yet but I am not welding anything that is going to be stressed a lot before I get comfortable.

The 110v seems to be working just great for what I do. Until I get into welding DOM tubing for a cage, I think this should be just fine.

I called to get a quote on gas the other day and it was ~$270 for the bottle and gas. I was told that would last me forever with how often I weld. I want to get away from flux core because it truley is ugly and messy but $270 is a huge jump at this point.

If anyone is in NOVA and wants to try their luck on some welds, let me know.
Wow that's alot of money to run gas flux wire sux but I still have a big spool of it so guess I will stick with it for now.

There is a process other than the proper prep work involved. As you may know, your Ball Joints are located in the area of the gusset install. The gussets need to be welded on carefully and with as little heat build-up as possible. So a slow process of applying a weld, letting it cool, applying a weld, letting it cool, needs to be adhered to, thus keeping the Ball Joints cool. Mine were welded on by a shop without to much concern for the Ball Joints, they had to be replaced at 14,000 mile. The inner linings of the OEM BJ are plastic, so that plastic will melt leading to premature failure.

Thanks. Sounds easy enough. I have used a jell type compound to apply on areas I wanted minimal heat to transfer. I shall look for it and post what I found.

I want to put on gussets and such for my d30, if I was to replace the ball joints at the same time I burn them on would that be a safer way to avoid premature failure?

Either way I have 55k on the JK as it is. I would rather just install these myself, rather than forking out all the cash for labor
