I was also surprised when carmax offered $16,000 for mine. I have a plane jane 2008,4door,auto, 2wd with 52000 miles. Bought it 3 years ago for 23000 out of the door. I never had a vehicle before that retains its price so well. My previous vehicle was chevy colorado i bought for $31,000 and 4 years later i got $9000 from a private party. Before that i had a ford ranger i bought for $14000 and 3 years later sold for $7000 to private party again.
