Thanks for the response and analysis. It appears, each dealer is differently motivated on their 2012s. I see three groupings:

A) Some are less motivated on a quick 2012 sell, but they really want to move the 2011s with deep discounts.
2) Some are indifferent, so the main difference is the Chryco incentives.
iii) And some may not have 2011's and are highly motivated to move 2012s, and offering good 2012 discounts.

So, if you're willing to shop a large region and multiple dealers, you can probably find a deeply discounted 2011 before they run out. Like the salesman sez, "They ain't makin no more 2011's son." Or, you can find a 2012 with good discounts. In both cases, you don't get a lot of choice. And, you get more % discount on highly optioned models. I'm a spartan Sport kinda guy, and haven't seen a 2012 to suit me yet.

$3K -$5K is a lot of money. IMO, the 2012 is worth the extra scratch. You will pay in excess of that to achieve the anything close to the same level of performance in a 2011 and you will have one year more of depreciation come trade-in time. (It doesn't matter if you boutght it at the beginning of the model year or end, it will be Year and Mileage that determine the used car value). If you are contemplating an automatic, then thre is absolutely no question. I have yet to see a review of the 2012 that is anything but glowing about the enhanced performance. While there is certainly an allure to saving thousands of dollars, I was glad to have waited almost a year for this engine to come out. And from all accounts there are deals to be had on 2012s. Find a dealer that is not sitting on a bunch of 2011s and you should be good. Use the search on the Jeep site and you will find your base 2012 that you want. It's not uncommon.

I disabled the warning light and hoped they didn't test the 4wd. Front brakes were shot, passenger side power window only occasionally worked and third row seat was seized in down position. It was going downhill fast. They gave me $9500 which was about right based on the accident.
And this, ladies and gentlemen is why I never buy used vehicles!

I would think the difference would run in the $1250-$1750 dollar range. $1500 makes perfect sense.
I think the big ticket seller for some people would be the 0% financing on a 2011 (instead of the rebate) along with getting it below invoice. Especially on a stick shift. (The new auto tranny on the 2012 is 50% of the improvement)
I was also able to qualify for 2.14% on my 2012.. so the difference in finance charges isnt much at all vs 0% ( I only financed 15k).. and I think it is 0% or the $1000 off on 2011's not both... or at least thats how it was when I got mine in August.
