2012 camshaft replacement...

1 Attachment(s)
Hello friends, my jeep has been in the shop now for 16 days I am finally getting it back today at 1. The check engine light went on so I brought it to the dealer and they said it was a bad cam sensor..ok.. So they changed the sensor and the check engine light was still illuminated, chrysler than told them to change the oil control valve..ok..they changed it and the check engine light was still on, they than said they had to replace both left and right camshaft in the engine. After fighting with them To give me a new car they finally told me that if the light goes back on after I get it back they will give me a brand new one NO COST. I agreed to that and forgot to mention it has 500 miles on it .... Is the light going to go back on or should it be good from now on? Thanks

Lol heard a couple stories of the new 3.6L pentastars going on fire with all this stuff I've been hearing about them I'm starting to think I would have been better off getting a left over 2011 with the 3.8L

Do ya think the dealer will just de-activate the light? :sad2:

small chance they would get severely burned if they did and got caught , plus the light self checks at each key on so he could tell if they did

Not getting it back until 5:30 now... Getting a little pissed off now. I shouldn't have this problem in the first place considering it is brand new.

Do you know what the code was that made the light come on?
There is a lot of things to look at before they get to the part where they have to change stuff. I wonder if they did any of the troubleshooting.

So far... So good. Got it back today just hit 600 mi and its alright for now.. I have a bad feeling it going to go back on because before I brought it in the light was not on constantly, just the occasional "on and off" which makes me wonder if it is just "off" for the time being

I also just found out I have the defective cylinder heads, so that should be another problem I have eventually lol but for some reason I still love my jeep

I think the coast is clear...

Sorry to hear ya having problems with a NEW Jeep, but unfortunatley these dealer tech's are NOT mechanics IMO.
They just 'plug in' ya car and whatever codes pop up they replace that without 'much' checking - thats why I use a non-dealer shop (but I know you need them for warranty work). :dontknow2:

Dealers can be very sneaky. You have to remember when ever a company comes out with something new, you should not buy it right away always wait for the next following year. Everything new will have alot of bugs.

Yeah I learned that the hard way... My father just traded in the older BMW m6 (2007) and just purchased the 2013 m6 and he said there is something about it that doesn't seem right and bringing it to the dealer this week to figure it out

I hope to hear things get better for you. Best thing you can do is hang in there and hope for the best. Good luck
