2012 mpg
I am starting this thread in hopes of getting some feedback from new owners on the MPG they are getting with their 2012s. Please post any/all of the following:
Model (2 or 4 door) Gearing Transmission Tire Size Driving mix (stop and go/city vs highway) MPG Total Mileage Thanks in advance! |
100% stock 3.21 geared 6-speed.
I do 100% city driving and average 17 on the button. On sustained highway driving, I have seen 22-23. I am going to hit 500 miles any day now. |
JKU Sport
3.73 Auto 255/75/17 (soon to be 33" duratracs) All rural driving thus far Computer reads 17.9 MPG (still on first tank so can't do by hand yet) Picked up yesterday and has around 55 MI |
Rubicon JKU 6 speed. 4.10
Almost all city driving, with a brief jaunt on the highway each day. Averaging 16.2 now. Last week was 15.9. Just under 1k miles so far |

now start adding the weight of bumpers ,rails ,winches and large tires and the mpg goes down. Next thing you know you are near the same mpg as the 3.8. Plus the lead foot driver will be even worse.

2 Door, 3.21, Auto, stock wheels/tires, 90% city so far, averaging around 18.7 MPG

Rubicon 5 speed auto, @ 5,280feet elevation, 4.10 gears JKU. I have been through 3 tanks, ave. 18.8 on my computer in the jeep, haven't done the actual math. Mixed highway, street, and 4 wheeling. LOL only got 3.3 mpg on the trail:rock:, @ altitude the engine runs a little different so I have only have to use 85 octane, no issues with this or any other jeep I have owned.

About 2,000 miles on my 2012 Rubi. 2 dr., auto, 4.10's, lots of Interstate highway driving at 75+ mph, with 35" tires... avg is around 15.5 mpg. If you can drive around 2,100 rpms then the mpg goes up to around 16.5 mpg.
