Default 3.0 crd diesel in 08 cherokee maybe in 09 wrangler

well....here we go again... I WAS AT JEEP DEALER AND TALKING TO A SERVICE MAN OUT BACK IN THE SMOKE ZONE.. AND HE SAID THE 3.0 IN 08 CHEROKEE WAS MORE THAN LIKELY GOING TO END UP IN 09 WRANGLER UNLIMITED.. HE SAID NOTHING IF CONCRETE BUT IN THERE TRAINING TO WORK ON THEM THE WERE GIVEN THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS MOTOR WAS GOING TO SPREAD TO ANOTHER JEEP VEHICLE IS SALES ARE GOOD IN THE CHEROKEE.. SO TO ALL OF YOU PEOPLE THAT ARE LOOKING TO BUY A CHEROKEE OR KNOW SOMEONE GOING TO BUY A CHEROKEE PLEASE BUY A DIESEL!!! HAS ANY ONE ELSE HEARD THIS FROM ANY OF THE JEEP GUYS?HERE ARE GOODIES ON IT...The 3.0-liter V6 CRD engine produces 215 horsepower at 3,800 rpm and 376 pounds-feet of torque at 1,600 - 2,800 rpm and gets an estimated fuel economy of 18 miles city and 23 miles highway for 4x2 models and 17 miles city and 22 miles highway for 4x4 models. The CRD offers outstanding towing capacity, 7,400 pounds when properly equipped and a driving range of approximately 450 miles

Default three headed dog said 3.0 is too pricy for wrangler

three headed dog said MB 3.0 is too pricy for wrangler.

Coversion shop said 3.0 needed to shift stearing box to fit 3.0..and moving it messed with ESP.

although I wish it were true

Those are based on that vehicle. I would think a wrangler could add a few to each number. Since it is smaller and lighter.

I guess any diesel would be better than none. Although I would prefer a Cummins than a MB car engine.

Wonder if it's a difference in how highway (Extra Urban) MPG is calculated between the US and the UK, or if it's due to added pollution controls on the US vehicle, but the 3.0L GC is rated for 32.8 (Imperial, 27.3 US) MPG based on the jeep.co.uk spec's.

The cost of a 3.0CRD upgrade in the limited cherokee is 1600, I'd pay that for one in a wrangler anyday!

With the new STARTECH SD6 tuning kit, the 3.0-liter common rail turbo diesel engine found on the Jeep Grand Cherokee now pumps out 262 hp (193 kW), 44 hp increased compared to the Grand Cherokee base model with 218 hp (160 kW). The torque output is also increased from 510 Nm up to 580 Nm rotating between engine speeds at 1,600 and 2,800 rpm. The STARTECH SD6 tuning kit allows the Jeep Grand Cherokee to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph....

In the Laredo, upgrading to the 3.0 from the 3.7 V6 is $3,235. Which would be closer to the price of an upgrade for a JK, since you are starting with similar engines.
