I bought a hoist from Harbor Freight with a $50 off coupon and had the Unistrut folks in Charlotte help me out with a "T" shaped rack. The local Tru Value guy heated and bent some large 1/2" bolts (into a "J") for me and presto...

Of course this was not an original idea, but it is up and ready for my 2012 JKU arrival on Wednesday.

I have the Harken hoist, had to get Harken UK to import one for me from the USA, but they were great, no problem with getting one and no extra cost.

Can lift the top on my own in seconds.

I have been using the Harken system for a few weeks now. One thing that I haven't worked up the courage to do is leave in the air and park under it. Just scares me. Anyone have any worries about the pulley system failing or the ropes breaking?

I bought the crank Lange. For the cost in comparison to what you get, I was pretty disappointed. It really seems like a cheap POS. It does the job though.....I just feel very uneasy using it. I have this feeling my top is just going to come crashing down one of these days.

If I had to do it over, I would probably build something myself.
