It really depends on how much work you want to do to save about $500. If you contact 10 dealers you will be harassed for months.

Set up your own financing through a local bank or credit union. Or better yet write a check, totally hassle free.

I just used the tread lightly discount and bought from a local dealer. Driving 200 miles to save a couple hundred bucks wasn't worth my time. Plus its nice to meet in person and talk things out when you order. I didn't want any surprises from ordering over the phone.

The trade in is where all the real negotiating is. If they don't offer a fair price just sell it on your own. In my state you don't have to pay tax on the trade in amount. So it is beneficial for me not to sell private party. Don't make the sale contigent on them taking your trade in, unless your are upside down on your trade. Then your screwed and you shouldn't be buying a brand new vehicle.
