I am not sure if you could MCGyver the header bracket. If you have the hard top imagine the clips from the front of that attached to a bar (molded to fit of course) that the top snaps onto. If you go to Bestop's website and look at the instructions for putting together the header and the Safari/bikini you will see some diagrams of it. http://bestop.com/installation_guides/52580.pdf (just one spoon fed link)
As a side note please use some other source of fabric than the flag. I know it would look cool in your eyes but some of us would prefer the flag be used properly on a flag pole taken down and raised as it should be. Use of a rebel flag, pirate flag, tie died material, or even a cammo tarp would be better.

X2. Please show proper respect for our flag. Here, over 1200 are being retired after serving their country faithfully. We do this every Veterans Day. The boys in the last image are playing Silver Taps.

BTW: Those of you who see my image in Scouting magazine: The above image with the 13-star flag was also submitted at the same time. I was delighted to receive the honor I did for my underwater image, but would have preferred it be conferred on the above image.

Edit: Corrected number of flags being retired (looked it up in newspaper I saved).

I'm sorry if you took offense to my idea of using the flag, trust me, I have more respect for it then most. And my blood boils everytime I see someone at a hippy rally burning her or using her as a shield. I'll look for a differant material to use, the last thing I want is to have me or my Jeep become a target. Thanks for the input. and I'll let ya'll know about the bracket.

I like to slush the losers as they protest on the street corner.
That is what big tires are for right?

Hey Man I know where you are coming from with the student budget and all, but you really are not supposed to make anything out of the Flag. If you wanted to use a cloth that had the American Flag on it, I think that is supposed to be ok, but I still wouldn't do it. I would just stick with solid color or something. If I think another idea I'll let you know.

Had a friend ages ago that just used parachute cord to tie a, you guessed it, parachute across his roll cage. We told him it would turn his YJ into a sail plane, but he had it on for several years before it was bleached to shreds by the sun.

I think BesTop has the header kits available for less than you could buy the parts for the header.

point taken guys. I've given up on the flag idea. I've found a way to get a little extra cash (legally) and I'll just save up and buy a top. untill then I'll try a few ideas out. Thanks for not calling me a hippy. I'll get a flag screened on my tire cover instead.

This idea has merit with one exception it will not create a water resistant/tight seal over the dash where the electronics are. With the safari/bikini on and doors off even in a blowing rain the dash stays pretty dry with the Bestop product. In summer I do not fear a sudden shower drenching the jeep with the safari on as I know everything will dry out and the electronics will stay dry (enough) to work properly. It all depends what you are looking for and what concerns you. Personally I wish they had an old fashioned cammo fabric for the safari top.
