"No one will say exactly which models will return to dust, but it is suspected that the Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Dakota, Jeep Commander and Compass could be headed to the guillotine, while the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Durango wait on Death Row for their final appeals to be decided."

Interesting. I'm actually surprised to see the Commander on that list.

Its interesting to see the Dakota might finally be retiring. I wish cars like that became more valuable after they are out of production. My 1996 Dokata Sport (with the v6 Magnum!!!) would be worth millions!

The Commander hasn't sold well, so I am not terribly surprised.

I started a thread on the imminent death of the Commander many moons ago... I remember hearing that the Command would die in the '09 model year. Good riddance to that gargantuan wannabe Jeep! The Grand Cherokee is OK, but anything bigger with the Jeep name is just a wannabe.

Personally, i wont miss any of those vehicles. The commander in my opinion sucks, and will have sucked. I drove one that work has, and i hated it. big, blocky, slow, poor visibility for me, poor steering, and scary brakes. Good riddance.

Hrm. I guess I just thought it would have stuck around longer because of my personal taste.

I think it looks better than the grand cherokee AND you can get the 5.7L Hemi.

The Commander was cutting into the sales of their premier model the Grand Cherokee.

It's my opinion that Chrysler of resent has gone back to the 80's way of building American cars and doing business.... CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP! AND CUTTING CORNERS!

The only vehicles that have even my slightest attention are the R/T 300, the Ram, the R/T Charger, and of course the Wrangler.

As for their newest line-up, almost every new vehicle they've created lately looks extremely DATED! They look like something I could have bought in 1995. Fact is, I think they top the list for building the majority of the most down right UGLIEST cars built today (much like the late 80's).

The Caliber, the Sebring, the Pacifica, the Compass (you can't get much uglier than that),

Yes I'll say the Cherokee too. Compared to the previous model it looks like 3 tons of fried ass. Doesn't look as classy or expensive as before.

GM on the other hand is coming back with a vengeance! Awesome looking vehicle line-up (other than the Cobalt). Cadillac has NEVER looked SO good!! The new trucks have got what it takes. Pontiac and Saturn are even getting my attention now too.

Ford and Chrysler have got to WAKE-UP and smell the coffee and get to some hard-work like GM has done.

Ford cannot expect to survive in the business building the same exact Ranger for 20 straight years, when the competition updates every 4-5 years, now can they?! Nor can chrysler expect to survive building vehicles that mock the likes of late Aztec.

I'm just pissed that American names are synonymous with the word cut-rate or bland when we have so much to offer!

I say, THIN AWAY!

What needs to be thinned is the executive staff, upper management, and probably middle management.

My JK is in the shop for some warranty work. They have loaned me a Compass 5 speed and what a load of rubbish. I'm not joking you could cut yourself on some of the sharp cheap plastic inside.

I think DC have stuffed Jeep totally on build quality including the JK.
