You can go pretty far, my aunt had a stock tj, it's all modded now but when we went to Moab as a family her stock jeep matched up to a 3" lift so you can go pretty far.

That is where my problem was. Stock '10 and a dry stock pond. Well at least it was dry for the first 3 inches and I could stand on it. The Jeep sank and was belly down.

This was the first month I had my jeep.

I think it's the type of mud. If it's a dry pond then that terrain was used to getting wet which makes it hard to get through where as if it's a wet construction site where the dirt is usually more dry the Jeep can make it through the mud easy. Other factors apply. That's just my opinion.

Btw my '12 stock Jeep still suprises me to this day
