JK TalkGeneral discussion forum regarding thoughts, opinions and rumors about the Jeep JK Wrangler or related subjects that don't quite fit in the Modified, Stock or Electronics forums.
There is a default mobile template that works very well for most users. When you log in from mobile it should be presented as the default. Few automotive communities have stand alone apps these days. . The template should work with many mobile platforms. Thanks.
Y, I'd note that the other forum doesn't have an app either. IDK what it is, but I really wish there was more activity over here. This forum has always been a really good general forum, and I'd note that it does seem the users more active on the other one are modified wheelers, and they have gravitated to a single spot. Hard to see things changing much as JL forums will start to water members down even more as they concentrate on that model. Guess there's just not a whole lot that can be done.
I'll just add that I'm a member of wranglerforum.com. They used to have a forum app for your smartphone just like Jk-Forum used to have but it has recently been abandoned and no longer works. Unlike JK-Forum which is currently accessible under the garage talk app, they currently have no other alternative aside from using a browser on your smartphone to access the forum, quite the same way as you would access the forum through a PC browser. Activity has not diminished like it has on JK-Forum.com, it's still going strong.
So while I agree that some membership participation has diminished due to the demise of the JK-Forum app, I believe the case really is about that this site is a "JK" Forum specific theme, where the other forum is a "Wrangler Forum" and therefore isn't specific to the "JK" and has lots of participation from CJ, YJ, TJ, JK and JL wrangler members. It was only a matter of time before the popularity of this "JK" specific theme forum wore off since the next gen Wrangler would be coming out and the JK would no longer be the new bright shiney object. Therefore, the demise really coincides more along with the "JK" specific link and the JK theme of this forum. Yes, there's a JL sub section on this forum but if I was looking for a forum for discussions on a YJ, TJ and JL Wrangler, this would be the last place I would sign up for since the web link address that pops up on my Google searches shows "JK-forum.com". The Wranglerforum.com has the same JL, JK, TJ, CJ, and YJ sub forum sections and no smart phone app. Traffic there has not diminished as it has on this JK specific address and themed forum since that other forum under the same circumstances is more themed toward all "Wrangler" discussions and brings in a much wider audience.
With that all said, this is still my favorite JK forum since the people who do contribute here are stand up member citizens, where I feel much more confident in the reliability of any of the information I receive on any questions that I post. You ask a question about installing ball joints or drive shafts and/or gearing technical details on Wranglerforum.com you often get no responses, or a bunch of you should have purchased brand "X" instead posts. You ask a question about what are the best slush mats to purchase or LED headlights, and you'll get a million responses which are just based upon personal opinion and preferences. I've posted the same topic and question on this forum and the wrangler forum in the past at the same time and I got reliable and quality response in return on JK-Forum. On the wranglerforum I got no responses and soon the question was buried under the 100 other posts about head lights, mirrors, and windshield wiper topics that rolled in afterwards. It's just a bunch of no brain activity and the few forum members who are regulars at that other site and do provide some knowledgeable information are typically a bunch of opinionated hacks where they obviously have ego problems and consider their opinions are the only ones that matters, where many of the less knowledgeable folks on that forum tend to put those backyard half assed hacks on a pedestal where they really don't belong. The only real opinions that I respect on that forum and consider reliable are posted by Jadmt and kjeeper10 who btw are also members of this forum. Wranglerforum.com has quantity of members and discussion topics, JK-forum.com currently has quality information with less topics with much more reliable reduced quantity of members who are here. So take your pick of which you prefer. Quantity vs Quality. Personally, I prefer this forum where I could take or leave wranglerforum.com since I never receive much reliable information and end up providing much more information than I ever receive in return.
^^^ And when there's a mild rant here, it's often thought provoking! Here's another 2 cents worth...
They'll probably be a new wave as older JK's trade hands, plus those existing owners who've been waiting to mod and travel.
Searching is faster than waiting for a question, and there's a lot of answers here. Wouldn't surprise me if the view time hasn't dropped off as much as posting.
Social media is taking a hit all over, Facebook is down about 10% and falling. Some people waste way too much time, plus the fake accounts, stupid arguments, privacy and security issues, etc. This ain't Facebook, but it's a close enough cousin to get caught in the post less online trend.
Interesting ... I am on both forums + Jeep forum and Wrangler forum gets massive #more posts; many being b itch complaints or gripes or what song what picture etc AND many which only bash a fine product... I enjoy reading the New Posts .. IDNC about the last person to post wins _ this is just clutter and is of NO Value (Wrangler forum should take it down). That Said, JK you should consider a modification to your name.. JK-JL Wranglers' Forum.. To all please keep it real to the question and the answers.
I thought I would posts this here as well the announcement forum because of the great feedback you are providing to this staff and IB. We hope the Improvements including the New Marketplace, Infinite scroll and the changes below will make more members consider JK Forum as their 'E' home. Thanks!

We have a site update that adds a few noticeable features to the forum.
First, any images that have been uploaded to JK-Forum and posted in a thread will initially load at a smaller, compressed size before coming into focus. This should drastically improve the load times on pages that have a ton of images.
Second, we have new buttons at the top of the thread:
The "Reply" and "New Thread" buttons are colored to stand out so that new users can find them.
There is also a new "Subscribe" button to make it easier to follow a thread.
There are new social share icons on the top right of a thread page that are bolder and look more uniform than the older buttons that were often ignored.
Lastly, we have user tagging! The tagging works similar to most major social platforms and you simply need to type the "@" symbol on desktop or mobile, followed by the first two characters in their username. The site will then bring up a dropdown to suggest names as you type:
It will then link to the user's profile in the post and send them a PM:
Hi IB Nolan,
You have been tagged by tagger in the following discussion: Thread you are tagged in
You can adjust the settings for user tagging notifications here
I don't know about anyone else, but this infinite scroll feature is pretty annoying where I wish there was a way to turn it off in a preference setting. When I 1st observed it, I said to myself "Maybe I just need some time to get used to it." Well, some time has passed and it still annoys the heck out of me. I'm used to using my mouse thumb wheel to quickly scroll from the top and bottom of a single page. When I scroll to the bottom to the last post of a discussion thread, I find myself reading an entirely different discussion thread because the feature has determined it's related to the previous discussion I was reading but alls it does is make things confusing since I didn't intend to go to another discussion and then I use my mouse wheel to quickly scroll back to the top and find myself scrolling too far back into the discussion than I had intended. I'm constantly getting lost in the discussions with this feature. I feel this feature makes discussions more difficult to read. I'm sure it was intended for a better use for tablet users, but on a PC laptop with a mouse it's bunk.
Then when I go to search for a past discussion and say for example that discussion was 10 pages long, and I remembered there was something I wanted to reference in the middle of that past discussion. To quickly jump to the 5th page it's now darn near impossible without either having to start at the beginning and doing a continuous scroll or jump to the end and do a continuous scroll backwards. It's not intuitive or user friendly at all in my opinion.

Also here are some useful features from WranglerForum.com which I really wish this forum had.
1. Quote notification. If someone quotes and responds to one of your posts, you get a notification letting you know. That way you can follow up on it.
2. Like Notifications and mention notifications. Similar usefulness, to rejoin a discussion.
3. View my latest posts in this forum section
4. View all your posts
5. View all discussions started by you
6. View all discussion started by you (in this forum section)
3-6 are very handy if you've been away for awhile and would like to quickly and easily jump back to a particular discussion. To find similar functionality on this forum, I have to dig through multiple profile sub menus. It's right at the top of every page at Wranglerforum.com
I like the infinite scroll, way better than having to jump pages if you go back in a discussion. If you really need to you can jump pages at the bottom where it saus "Go to page..."
There is also so much technical information in this forum, much more than in any others I've seen.
