dual top question

Can the sunrider soft top be completly removed in the winter months to increase trunk space? Also when you order the deep tint does that mean the soft top and the hard top will have tinted windows?

Yes and yes.

If what you are saying is can you take the whole soft top out during the winter and use the hard top, then you should read the owners manual. It specifically states that the soft top is installed at the factory and then the hard top is installed and it is shipped to the dealer that way. When you take possession, it instructs you to remove the soft top until you are ready to use it :eek!:

These instructions are contrary to part of the selling point from my salesman. I thought you could just leave the soft top in all the time regardless if you had the hard top on the vehicle. So much for the salesman knowing his product!

Ummm... his questions was "Can the sunrider soft top be completely removed in the winter months to increase trunk space?" to which the answer was YES.

According to the owner's manual, you should in fact only ever have one installed at a time . I only have one of mine installed at a time. But that wasn't what he was asking. I was going to give him enough credit that he actually was going to read the manual.

The second question was "Also when you order the deep tint does that mean the soft top and the hard top will have tinted windows?" to which the answer is YES.

Salespeople are sometimes just a fountain of misinformation. :naw:

Maybe the way i replied wasn't exactly the right way to get my point across. The simple answer is yes. However, as I alluded to, I was told before my purchase that you could keep the soft installed and folded down while you had the hard top on the Jeep. Of course this is not true, but then again I was told that UConnect was going to work on my radio

My salesman told me the same thing... He said there is problem leaving the soft top assembled inside. When I told him about the chaffing issues and how driving around with the soft top installed could weaken the material, he told me the jeep was designed to take both together??? Do these Jeep dealers read up on there products?

Partial Hijack (sorry!):

If you go to this forum link, https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-talk-26/sway-bar-discos-all-2327/
, someone has posted a link to the Arifleet website build schedule (http://www.Arifleet.com/production.html), which shows the Sunrider soft top with a job #1 date in March, 2007 for the 2 door...

Based on your posts, I see that some of you already have your two doors, and you seem to indicate that you have the Sunrider as well... So: Is this Arifleet website incorrect, or am I misinterpretting it (i.e. maybe they mean 2 doors that are order with the Sunrider ONLY have a job #1 date in March 07)?

Any light you can shed would be appreciated - have my 2dr Sahara on order, and am praying I don't have to wait until f'n APRIL for it!

Thanks all.

They are referring to the soft top in general. The sunrider hasn't shipped on 2drs yet. Thought it was slated for end of January. If yours is ready before the sunrider is you will just get a regular soft top period. It won't hold up your order unless you specifically say you want to wait until it is available, to order your jeep. If your order is in, you will get the sunrider only if it is available by your manufacture date.

Not a problem for me. If it is not hardtop weather, I will have the top off or a bikini top on. I don't need a sunroof. I have one in my other vehicle that I never open.

ok a few things i learned here. I think. WIth the hard top installed, the soft top can not be stowed away in the trunk? If that is the case then my quesiton is answered. I assumed that the soft top would stay folded in the back even with the hard top.

As far as the manual, I just ordered my JK last night so I haven't had a chance to read up yet, hehe.
