Default Engine heat question

I drove my Jeep home from work around 4 hours ago. After reading the "hood lift" post, I went out and inspected hood, latch, etc. I noticed there was quite a bit of heat still under the hood. Even hot to the touch all over. Is this normal? You would think that after 3+ hours of sitting in my garage, it would cool down. I'm a little paranoid after reading posts of spontaneous jeep fires.... anyone else notice this or have knowledge of???

Welcome to the forum. Yes, these run hotter than all get out. Wait until you put armor under your oil pan and tranny, add a ton of steel for bumpers/winch, load up a bunch of gear and hit a mountain pass (or a tough trail in 4lo) at 10,000 -12,000 feet. Then you don't even want to get close to the hood! At this point I'm thinking of cutting some holes in the hood and putting some vents there.
